In the fifth battle, the 3rd Army Corps of the Chinese Volunteer Army was indeed caught up in the biggest crisis since its entry into the Democratic People ‘ s Republic of Korea because of its decision-making failures.
Tell me more about the fifth battle.
During the fourth battle, Li Chiwai seized the weakness of the “proverical offensive” and directed the United Nations forces against our forces.
Despite our heroic resistance and the classic examples of the Han River’s resistance and cross-cities’ counter-war, Nai Ho’s weapons, equipment and logistical support are far from human beings and have to step back, leading United Nations forces from the “3-7” to the “3-8” line.
In order to change the situation so passive, Field Marshal Peng had to begin his fifth battle quickly.
MacArthur flew in, Truman got pissed off.
At the end of the fourth campaign for the Korean War, while the United States forces continued to gain the initiative on the front line, MacArthur on the rear became more and more vulnerable.
Because MacArthur has complained to the United States Government on countless occasions, the United States army will lose a lot today if it does not use the atomic bomb; tomorrow it says that it will not win without bombing mainland China; and the day after tomorrow it says that it will be driven out of the sea without a massive increase.
As a result, the United States forces commanded by Lichwai achieved a series of victories, beating MacArthur in the face.
Logically, anyone who is a normal person should be reviewed, at least silently, but MacArthur is the old sow’s crumbs — his mouth is thick, and he not only denies the error, but also publicly says to the journalists that all the attacks were ordered by me, MacArthur.
In his memoirs, Li Chiwai shouted at MacArthur: “His vanity has left me speechless. I’m sorry.
In addition to working with Richie, MacArthur got up against President Truman N.
Truman believes that the focus of the United States should be on Europe, not Asia, and that it should be drawn from the quagmire of the Korean war as soon as possible. United Nations forces have already saved America’s face by fighting back to the “38th Line”, so they can send a friendly signal to China to try to resolve the Korean issue at the negotiating table.
To that end, Truman has also prepared a well-written statement, which will be followed by a press conference after consultation with the various warring countries.
But what has not occurred to Trumanwant was that, in the fourth battle, MacArthur saw United Nations forces advancing northwards, and the old lady touched the electric door — shaking.
When he held a press conference in Tokyo on his own initiative, he announced with a high-profile announcement that “to extend our military operations to the coastal areas and internal bases of the Red China, then the Red China is doomed to an imminent military collapse … the Korean nation and people who have already been subjected to extreme cruelty … “
When Truman heard about it, he immediately called a high-level meeting and yelled at MacArthur: “His statement prevented us from sending any message to China… I want to kick his ass into the Yellow Sea… He’s a defiant, self-proclaimed bastard. I’m sorry.
Secretary of State Achison also poured oil on the fire and said, “He is a dirty farmer!” I’m sorry.
However, given the great prestige of MacArthur, who could be removed from office with adverse international and domestic effects, Truman decided to give MacArthur a last chance.
He therefore asked the Joint Chiefs of Staff to send a telegram to MacArthur requesting that MacArthur should subsequently be prevented from making public statements on foreign policy without permission.
But MacArthur didn’t take it at all, and he insisted: “Every commander can make a similar announcement at any time. I’m sorry.
It was even more distressing that MacArthur turned his head and complained to journalists that he had been trapped in an artificial web and that politicians had violated the authority of the military.
On 8 April 1951, when Truman saw MacArthur’s statements in the press, he was furious, and the next day he convened a temporary press conference in the White House, publicly declaring: “I deeply regret to conclude that MacArthur cannot wholeheartedly support United States and United Nations policies. On the basis of the responsibilities entrusted to me by the United States Constitution and the United Nations, I have announced that I will remove MacArthur from his post as Commander of the United Nations, to be replaced by Matthew Richwa. I’m sorry.
MacArthur was astonished that a United Nations commander-in-chief had been dismissed from his post on the radio without prior notice, which would be a great joke.
I don’t know if MacArthur ever called her on the spot, but when he was working with Lee Chi Wee, he scolded Truman so hard: “Someone’s willing to give $1 million, please talk to me about a contradiction with the President.A distinguished medical authority told me that Truman’s brain is sick and probably won’t live for six months.”
But when he came back to the United States to see Truman, MacArthur quickly realized that he was a few pounds, calmed down and, 10 days later, he made that famous farewell speech, “The Veterans Never Die!”
Since I read my vows on the lawn of West Point, the world has undergone many transformations and the hopes and dreams of childhood have long disappeared. But I still remember the saying of pride in that popular military song: “The veterans never die, they just fade away.”
Deputy Commander Hong has proposed three times.
After taking over from MacArthur, Lee Chi Wee promoted Van Freit, who was training new recruits in the United States, to the Commander of the 8th Group.
He graduated from the West Point Military School, as did Li Chiwa. He fought very bravely, and when Normandy landed, he took the lead on Utah Beach and was awarded three brass crosses in one day.
In 1948, Van Freit, in Greece, acting as the commander of the Joint Military Forwarders Group, trained the Greek army in a high-intensity manner, enabling it to quickly eliminate 100,000 Greek Communist Party troops hiding in the mountains of the Old Forest and be dubbed the “Master War Specialist”.
The transfer of such a good general from the United States to North Korea, as Li Chiwa ‘ s appetite is well known, is also destined for a fifth battle that will be devastating.
And just as the Americans were busy changing their looks, the third legion of the second group of volunteers and six of the nineteenth legion, as well as a large number of artillery and railways, had crossed the hill to the front. The total strength of the volunteers reached 700,000, while the United Nations had only 300,000.
Marshal Peng’s long-suffering mood has finally improved. However, at the time of the preparation of the fifth battle plan, Field Marshal Peng and Deputy Commander Hong Ji Ji-ji, Dunhua and others had created serious differences.
In Hong ‘ s view, the fifth battle cannot be waged immediately.
First of all, there’s a lot of new recruits in the 19th Regiment, and it takes at least 20 days to complete the necessary combat training.
Second, there is a serious shortage of food and grass munitions for the volunteer forces, such as the 39th Army, the 40th Army soldiers, who eat rare meals and are very weak. The ammunition of the 20th Army and the 27th Army is only half of the required quantity.
Finally, the United Nations forces did not come in light of the enemy and provided us with an enabling warplane. If we fight now, the enemy will not be able to achieve the objective of “incorporate destruction” called for by the leaders.
That is why the United Nations forces should be put in some more, and then cut off and eliminated when they reach the iron plain and gold.
Black lines are enemy lines, red lines are our lines, Blue Line is Han River
But before Hong finished, Field Marshal Peng interrupted his statement: “We can’t retreat any longer … The Iron Plain is plain and enemy tanks are coming in and dealing with it. Besides, the enemy came in. What about the lot of material and food we stored in the vicinity of the building? No, we can’t let the enemy in. I’m sorry.
Deputy Commander Deng Wah answered: “Union Commander Hong’s opinion is valid and the enemy should be brought in and beaten. The 3rd Regiment and the 19th Regiment are now in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and the 9th Regiment has just moved forward, with unfamiliar terrain and hasty operations. Putting the enemy in is one where we are better prepared to wait, and the other where we can find the terrain. I’m sorry.
Then Hong said, “As for the things and the food in the field, I promise to move it north in two days.” I’m sorry.
But before he finished, Field Marshal Peng got a little angry and raised his voice and said, “Do you want to fight this war?” I’m sorry.
Hong Ji-ji and Dunhua are not in the right place and have to stop talking.
As a result, after the meeting, Field Marshal Peng sent a telegram to the leaders as he conceived.
But Hong found Field Marshal Peng again that night and said to him, “Mr. Peng, as a staff officer, has three powers of advice. I have already told you twice, and I am going to ask you again and finally you decide. If we fight now, we don’t have the first time to surround the enemy, and the United States troops march back and forth, we can’t catch up with the United States troops on two legs. I’m sorry.
Field Marshal Peng has heard the soundness of Hong’s concerns, but he has more. In recent times, the United States Navy has been constantly scouting the east-west coast of Korea, and Chiang Kai-shek has reportedly sent 30,000 people to Jeju Island.
According to this judgement, the United States forces are planning a large-scale landing operation. If the fifth battle is not launched immediately, the consequences will be dire in the event that the United States forces land behind our backs.
So he still didn’t follow Hong’s advice.
After careful examination of Field Marshal Peng ‘ s telegrams, the leaders also believed that the United States forces might land from our flanks, approved Field Marshal Peng ‘ s plan of operations and specifically emphasized that the 38 and 42 Aces had been placed on the flanks to prevent United States troops from landing.
So, on April 22, 1951, the fifth battle opened in haste.
The volunteers slammed in and the Koreans ran away.
The overall approach of the volunteer forces to combat in the fifth battle was essentially the same as in the first battle, with the upper Han River as the border, dividing the Korean battlefield into two battlefields on the east and west.
The black line is enemy, the red line is ours, the flash area is upper Han River.
The Eastern Front is a secondary battlefield, the main task of which is to block the advance of enemy forces northward, so that only the 3rd and 5th legions of the Korean People ‘ s Army are scheduled.
Black to enemy, red to us, blue to Han River.
The western front is the main battlefield, with the 3rd, 9th, 19th Legion of the Volunteer Army and the 1st Legion of the Korean People ‘ s Army, totalling 12 armies, hundreds of thousands of people, all held here.
Black to enemy, red to us, blue to Han River.
In addition, in order to prevent United Nations forces on the eastern front from coming to the west, the Voluntarists have arranged for the 39th Army and 40th Army to attack areas south of Huagawa.
Red flash arrows are 39, 40, course of attack.
On the evening of 22 April, under the orders of Field Marshal Peng, on a 200-km-wide front, the volunteer forces launched a full-blown offensive. The United Nations troops were caught in the middle of a fight, and Kuramoto withdrew.
Soon, a series of implausible reports came from the front line. 39 The military, 40 troops completed their mission by inserting Huachuan into two sections of the United Nations military line. The army wiped out a British army battalion, the fighter Liu Zigu, and one person captured 63 British soldiers, making a record.
However, after a short period of confusion, United Nations forces quickly calmed down and began to resist and retreat in a rhythmic manner.
Our troops have been chasing after us for seven days, with little success, except for a battalion that has just begun to destroy the British.
The day before the full-scale attack of our army, Van Frett had anticipated that he would suddenly attack, he had also published in the newspaper, “Welcome to the Chinese army! I’m sorry.
After the attack, he ordered the troops to step back 30 kilometres every evening, under the cover of planes and artillery, just to the maximum of our daily offensive, without giving me any chance to fit in.
On 29 April, Field Marshal Peng appeared empty and ordered a full-line halt to the attack, and the first phase of the fifth battle ended, just one week before the fifth battle was launched on 22 April.
After seeing the volunteers stop attacking, Van Freit proudly declared to the journalists: “The Chinese army launched a failed attack. I’m sorry.
In his view, the next plan of the volunteer force would be either to concentrate on the advantage of taking Seoul or to withdraw. He therefore concentrated his main force around Seoul and was ready to move.
But Field Marshal Peng had already prejudged Van Freit’s decision, and when he saw a large United Nations military build-up in Seoul, he set up a sonar Western attack on Seoul by the 19th Regiment and the 1st Regiment of North Korea, while the 3rd and 9th Regiment moved quickly east, along with the 3rd and 5th Regiments of North Korea, attacking three Korean divisions on the eastern front.
Black is our enemy, red is ours, white flash arrows are ours.
On the evening of 28 April, the Volunteers began the implementation of the second phase. Field Marshal Peng was unsure and had deliberately sent a telegram to the front, asking the 19th Regiment to press on with its offensive and not to expose itself. Special attention was paid to the transfer of the 3rd and 9th Regiments in order to guard against detection by enemy forces.
But Field Marshal Peng is clearly overstretched, and Van Frett is intoxicated with “magnetic tactics” at this time, with no expectation that volunteers will move eastward. So the process of the 3rd and 9th legions went very well, and during the 18th day of the transfer, Van Freit did not find out that there were two thirds fewer volunteers north of Seoul.
On 16 May, at 2400 hours, the second phase of the fifth campaign officially began.
Friends who have seen the first four battles should be extremely effective against the Korean Army, and the first thing they do every time is run.
This time again, as soon as the volunteer forces hit, the Korean army ran back. Voluntarists again, Koreans again.
In five days, our army wiped out more than 23,000 Koreans and pushed the entire front 100-120 miles south, of which the 12th Army 91st Regiment pursued the Korean Army 300 miles and ran to the main rear of the enemy — Jin-ri.
White flashing arrow is 91 in position.
The U.S. Army saw the Korean Army so badly, so angry that the U.S. troops on the west front were rushing to the east while ordering the dissolution of the Korea 3rd Regiment.
A foreign army, disassembled by a national army, has been a slugger for thousands of years of human war. But, apart from throwing the pot into the United States in the memoirs and scolding them, there is no resistance in reality.
Well, the weak have no diplomacy, and whoever lets himself be under the fence, who lets himself be under his nose.
On 21 May, Field Marshal Peng ordered all forces to stop their attacks and to withdraw in batches to the north-west when he saw that my troops had completed their targets and that the United States troops had been transferred eastward, and that our troops would have run out of food and even some of them were hungry.
The first two phases of the fifth battle ended so simply that there was nothing to be desired.
But sometimes it is not a good thing to be too smooth, because it is easy for the generals to develop a less hostile ideology, as it was in the third battle, which led to the loss of our troops in the fourth.
The enemy is ambushed on all sides.
Just two days before the volunteers were ready to retreat, it had been determined that the volunteers had reached the end of the crossbow.
As a result, they placed three huge sieges on the volunteer forces.
Black flash arrows for the United Nations offensive.

Third encirclement: U.S.A.A. 1 provides armoured units, which are punctured at speeds of fire into the iron plains and cut off the retreat of all volunteers.
In addition, Van Freit has specifically stressed that during the process of interposition, the armoured units should not interfere with the resistance of the Chinese soldiers, nor with the presence of mines on the road, and must move forward and be in place as quickly as possible.
And the volunteer fighters in the north, who had no idea that the United States military would be so bold, were proud and proud of their victory.
This is the cruelest and most ruthless day of the entire war against the US-DPRK. On 23 May, the volunteers began a full withdrawal, which coincided with the full response of the United States forces to our forces.
In a single day, the front was broken many times because our forces were not prepared.
On May 24th, the advance team of the United States 10 troops had already stormed near the hoof. If the United States forces take this, the 9th Regiment’s retreat will be completely cut off and the situation is extremely dangerous.
At this moment, when the retreating 27 troops suddenly discovered the American army, Captain Pender immediately ordered the whole army to occupy the main land and to prevent the United States forces from attacking the hoof. After two days of resistance, most of the 9th Legion managed to escape.
However, 300 miles from the Korean Army, the 12th Army 31st Division 91st Regiment, which ran down to Treasure, was completely blocked in the enemy’s circle, and, worse still, because of poor communications, the 91st Regiment had no idea that our army had withdrawn.
Black to enemy, red to us, white flash area to 91st.
Chief Zhao Lanta was anxious to send the Deputy Chief of Operations with two guards to inform the 91st regiment of its withdrawal.
In foreign countries, the difficulty of crossing the enemy’s multiple lines is understandable, not to mention the need to find a unit that has lost its connection.
However, with its tenacity and perseverance, Maple was able to complete this almost impossible task, except for the two guards who had died in order to cover for him.
After the Chief Lee Changlin heard of the withdrawal, it was first and foremost inconceivable that he was planning his next attack. And then, he got a cold sweat, a thousand more of his comrades’ lives, all in between.
How? Where? I can’t breathe!
It is only fortunate that Li Changlin was a brave soldier who had experienced long marches, battles against Japan and wars of liberation, especially as he had also performed a legend as he had jumped thousands of miles into the mountains.
All three leaders who were responsible for the attack were killed and Li Changlin was ordered to continue fighting at a lesser cost. However, he was seriously injured and dying. After the war ended, his comrades thought he had died and put him in a coffin to be buried. But on the eve of his burial, he came out of his coffin with a miracle. In 1950, he was also awarded the title “National War Heroes” for his outstanding combat work.
Decades of battlefield experience have sensitised Lee Changlin to the fact that the United Nations forces around us, approximately 10 times more than the 91st Regiment, must have ambushed heavy soldiers on the 91st Regiment’s retreat, so they can never retreat and can only win by surprise.
As he wanted to go, Li Cheon-lin decided to go south, yes, to the back of the enemy, and when they were on a long march, they ran, and now they want to give the United Nations troops a chance to enjoy what they were.
That night, Lee Changlin took the 91st Regiment, one head in the south-east of the mountain forest and crossed the past smoothly from the gap in the enemy line.
Black as enemy, red as ours, white flashing arrows as line for the 91st regiment.
The United Nations troops found out that they were empty and immediately mobilized three Korean divisions to intercept the 91st Regiment. But in the middle of guerrilla warfare in the mountains, the Korean Army was in front of my army and only elementary school students. The three divisions were in the forest for days, but not the 91st regiment, but more than 100 people were captured by the 91st regiment.
Even more surprising, the Korean Army has, in many cases, found the 91st Regiment, but they just don’t know it.
It turns out that Li Changlin left the 91st Regiment in the line of sharp knives, dressed in captured Korean army clothes, to open the road in front of him, and also sought out a few Korean-speaking soldiers for questioning by the Korean Army.
Nor did they know that the swordsmen were too talented to perform, or that the Korean Army soldiers were too confused, and that the 91st regiment had so swayed through the line of defense, reaching the East Coast.
They then turned to the north, climbing up the mountains, digging for wild vegetables, for hundreds of miles, and finally met with the Korean People ‘ s Army.
Black as enemy, red as ours, white flashing arrows as line for the 91st regiment.
After having handed over over more than 100 prisoners to the Korean People ‘ s Army, Li Changlin led the 91st Regiment to march in the mountains for six days and six nights, which led to the arrival of a large force, taking stock of the number of people, and not one less.
Master Zhao Lanta saw the group dressed like beggars, but with a very strong eye, more than 1,000 warriors couldn’t stop crying and crying in their arms.
After that, Lee Changlin learned that they had created a military miracle that would be enough to write in a textbook — as in the case of foreign countries, after 10 times the size of the enemy, for more than 600 miles without information or foreign aid, more than 100 prisoners, many of them all returned to their homes, looking at the entire military history of China and abroad.
Once again, 180 divisions are almost completely destroyed.
When the 91st Regiment made a miracle on the East Line, the 180th Division of the Mid Line was hit by the biggest crisis since the arrival of volunteers.
On 21 May, at the end of the second phase of the fifth campaign, Shiji gave an order to the 3rd Regiment to leave an army to begin the fielding of its troops on the first line from Kaping to Chuncheon to cover the main force of the 3rd Regiment and to move in the direction of iron.
The white flash zone is our defensive front and the withdrawal of the 3rd legion.
The Commander-in-Chief of the 3rd Regiment issued this order to the 60th Army and stressed: “At least five days on the southern shore of the North Han River!”
After Commander Wedge received the order, he had some doubts in his mind. Not because the 60th Army was afraid to fight, but because a few days ago, the 3rd Regiment acting Commander Wang was close to the mountain and transferred the 179th and 181st divisions of the 60th Army to strengthen the 15th and 12th armies in the main direction of the attack.
And these two divisions, at least one or two days from the “Gaping to Harukawa” line. In other words, in these two days, the task of obstructing is all over 180 divisions, 30 kilometres of front lines, facing three divisions in the United States and one division in Korea, we only have 180 divisions in the region.
But military orders must be carried out with determination. Vijay had to power the 179th Division and the 181st Division so that they could provide immediate cover for the evacuation of the wounded and, upon completion of the mission, to the rear of the 180th Division to establish a second line of defence.
The white flash arrows are 179, 181, retreating.
As can be seen from the map, there is no problem with this order by Vijay, because the 180th division has 15 troops on its left wing, even if 179th division and 181st division pull back.
But for some unexpected reason, on May 22, the Third Regiment Command ordered the 15th Army to withdraw. As a result, 180 division’s left wing was completely exposed to enemy gunfire.
When Wedge heard about it, he was surprised to give Zheng Gui, the chief of the 180 division, powered by sending an infantry regiment north of the Han River to build works to facilitate the withdrawal, and to “get in touch with the 63rd Army of the right-neighbor.”
To be honest, there is no problem with this order, as long as the 180 division keeps an eye on the left and cooperates with the 63 troops on the right, and it is not a problem at all.
But the accident happened again. At noon on 23rd, when the 180th division fought the Americans south of the Han River, it suddenly caught a thunderbolt — 63 troops withdrew.
The Chief Commander, Fu Zhongbei, explained the reasons for his withdrawal in his memoirs:
After questioning, the enemy tried to cut off the retreat of our troops south of the Han River. Meanwhile, the 188th Division reported to me that the 64th Army on their left has retreated and the enemy coming out of Seoul is attacking my 188th Division.
At that time, our command post, 187 divisions, on the back side of the northern bank of the Yochon River, we urgently called a military party committee to decide whether to fight or withdraw.
Some claims require the approval of the voluntary command and regiment before they can be withdrawn. However, the situation is already very tense and it is clearly too late to obtain permission to withdraw if it is to be requested.
So We decided with determination: ‘Sat! My responsibility is with Us.’
Since the 63 troops belonged to the 19th Regiment and the 180th Division to the 3rd Regiment, the 63 forces withdrew without informing the 180th Division.
As a result, the left and right wings of the 180th Division will be empty and must be surrounded by American troops if they do not withdraw.
Blue is Han River, white flash is our defense line.
60 Upon learning of this pleasure, Military Commander Wegger immediately powered 180 divisions to cross the river and move north.
If history goes this way, the 180s will have no problems. But then again, there were accidents. A further telegram was sent to the 60th Army by the 3rd Corps Command, which reads as follows:
Owing to a lack of capacity, the casualties in the field have not yet been removed, and all of the 5,000 wounded in the 12th Army have not been transported; the 15th Army has 2,000 wounded who are unable to move near the water hole; and the 60th Army has more than 1,000 wounded. To that end, it was decided that the ministries would not withdraw, and that they would build solid works on the front, block the enemy and remove the wounded before withdrawing them, and that they would be expected to set up and inform us in that spirit. In addition, the ministries, in addition to carrying the wounded with their own means of transport, have organized the mobilization of troops, in particular the personnel of the organs and even of the cadres, to take part in the transport of the wounded, with a view to their prompt transfer …
Attention, in one sentence, “The ministries will not withdraw for a while, and will build solid works on the front, stop the enemy, remove the wounded before withdrawing, so that the army may set up and sue us in this spirit.” I’m sorry.
This sentence is ambiguous,3 as the Army Command may mean that the main force of which unit is to withdraw is to withdraw when the wounded have been evacuated.
The Army understood, however, that they had to cover the evacuation of all the wounded.
So Vijay went on to power 180 divisions to get them back south of the Han River, and at any cost continued to block the enemy for three or five days. That’s it, 23 days a day, 180 division didn’t move north.
Shortly thereafter, Vijay gave the 3rd Regiment Command another power supply and applied for withdrawal. Unfortunately, however, there was a delay in the response of the military command.
It turns out that on the night of 23 May, when the regiment headquarters moved north, it was bombed by enemy aircraft and the radio station was blown up and communications resumed only three days later.
Vijay’s like an ant on a hot pot, left and right, and can’t wait to call back. Lieutenant Commander Chayu-sung, recommends that all 180 divisions be evacuated to the north bank of Han River. But, in Vijay’s view, one cannot be withdrawn without an order.
It wasn’t until 24 p.m., and Vijay couldn’t wait for the telegram, so it was decided that 180 divisions would evacuate the fighting and move north.
It was just that it was too late, and that afternoon, the United Nations forces had taken over the north bank of the Han River, with more than 180 divisions and 11,000 people surrounded by the south bank of the Han River.
That night, 180 divisions had to risk their lives and set up three wires on the Han River and let the soldiers pull their hands and cross the river.
The United Nations forces, guided by numerous flares, immediately fired wildly at the river, with an instant of red blood on its face, the sound of the horse and the screams of the warriors, filled with the valley, and lost more than 600 soldiers in one single night.
But anyway, 180 finally broke through the most dangerous line of defense, at which point the United Nations had not yet fully integrated the encirclement, and there was a great chance that if 180 could make a rapid leap north, there would be a great chance of escape.
Blue is Han River, white flash area is a perimeter for the U.S. Army.
In fact, Commander Vijay thought the same thing, and in the early morning of the 25th, he rushed to order 180 Divisions north, 179 Divisions south to respond.
But just one hour after the 180th Division went north, there was an accident, the radio station of the 3rd Army Command, which had been missing for three days, was repaired, and the headquarters suddenly sent a telegram without knowing what was going on on on the front line: “The 180th Division should have stopped the enemy at Mount Garde by two regiments. In other words, the command demands 180 divisions to block!
To this day, we don’t know why the 3rd Corps Command gave such an order. I don’t know what it’s like to be so ordered by Vijay.
All I know is that Vijay sent the telegram to 180 Divisions, and Commander Zheng Zheng Qi Gui followed the order.
That way, 180 divisions lose their last chance!
In the evening, the United Nations forces closed the 180th Division.
On 28 March, the Commander of Division 180, who had been running out of food for days and had exhausted his ammunition, ordered the destruction of the radio station, the burning of the code book and the breaking of the entire division.
But in the face of a tight United States blockade, how can we just break through?
In the end, the 180 divisions of 11300 people returned to less than 4000 people, and more than 5,000 of the more than 700 people left were captured and 2,000 died. Of these, 180 division chief of the Department of Political Affairs, U Chengde, acting Political Council, was captured 14 months later in the mountain forest, the highest ranking of the captured volunteers.
The only comforting thing is that 180 divisions blocked, somewhat delayed, the attack by the United Nations, and the 9th Regiment, 20th Army, 58th Division, in Huagawa, stopped the American Army and made the 9th Regiment a smooth retreat, winning a few days.
It’s a brutal and helpless battle.
After the 180th Division was wiped out, the commander of the 8th United States Army, Van Frett, came to the front and said to his men, “Our pursuit tactics have proved effective, and we have now broken through a large number of volunteer positions… Our next main course of action is the Iron Plateau — the gold belt. I’m sorry.
The white flash area is iron and gold.
Van Freit chose this place for two reasons:
First, Tiehara is the most important forward base for the volunteer forces, which contain large quantities of military materiel.
Second, Tiehara is the necessary route for the withdrawal of the Eastern Front Volunteers, who will be here for a week or two.
That is to say, once the United Nations forces have taken off the Iron Plateau, the volunteer forces on the front line will not only lose their food and grass supply, but will also retreat and be wiped out.
Fortunately, just as the United States troops were moving towards the Iron Plain, Field Marshal Peng was keenly aware of the American military’s intentions.
On May 27th, Field Marshal Peng ordered the 65th Army to stop the US troops south of Kikukawa. On 28 November, Field Marshal Peng and Commander Yang Deok-chul of the 19th Regiment gave two additional orders to the 65th Army and the 63rd Army, which retreated to the vicinity of Tiewon.
The black arrow is in the direction of the U.S. Army, the white flash area is our front.
63 The Army (187, 188, 189 Divisions) was on fire in the rear of the 65th Army to build a second line of defence, “the unsuspecting regiment shall not give up”.
The Army did everything in its power to block the attack by the United States Army and to buy time for the construction of the rear 63 army, “or else you will be held responsible”.
Then Field Marshal Peng transferred the reserve 39 troops to the north of the Iron Plain, ready to rise at any time, and stressed to Yang, “It’s just that 63 troops will be wiped out and the iron will be held for another 15 to 20 days!” I’m sorry.
In the fifth battle, the worst barrage began.
The commander-in-chief, Fu Zhongbei, after seeing Field Marshal Peng give his orders to himself, knew well that this would be an unprecedented battle. So he went to the front and looked at the divisions’ protections, while giving orders to the 187s, 188s, 189s.
When he arrived at the position of Division 189, he was in a state of shock, and he managed to keep the division ‘ s three regiments, on dozens of hills around them, setting up 200 positions of resistance, large and small, with the aim of placing the United States troops one by one in order to delay the attack.
Fort Chongbei believes that such a protection is tantamount to suicide, and it is certain that the 189th division, is debatable. However, according to Cai Chang Won, more than 200 guns from the entire army were transferred to the 187 division (Fu Zhongbei determined that the 187 division was in the lead, possibly in the direction of the US army), 189 had no heavy weapons on their hands, and if the soldiers gathered together, faced with the heavy artillery fire from the US, there was no counter-attack, and only if there was one hope.
They had to report it to Shiji. Jiji finally boarded the fight as Cai Long decided.
On 1 June, the first line of defense, 65 troops, was blocked for only four days, and the United States troops broke through. It is even more unfortunate that the attack by the United States forces did not concentrate all the heavy weapons of the 187 divisions of the entire army, as it had been expected to do, but instead attacked the 189 divisions, which had no heavy weapons.
The red line is 63, the defense line, the white flash zone is the American offensive route.
As a result, the war became essentially a unilateral massacre.
Van Fret ordered the Americans to fire 44,000 rounds at our positions one night, five times the usual amount of ammunition, so that all the rocks and trees on the hill turned into powder.
In the face of this absolute power, the 189th division has no resistance at all. On average, 30 minutes or so, it loses a position. In just three days, more than 10,000 of the 189 divisions were beaten down by about 1,000 people.
On June 5th, Fu Zhongbei had to keep fighting for the 188th Division to replace the 189th Division that had been beaten. The United States forces continued to be shelling, after which the tank was mounted. Our army still stands in the way of an attack by the United States with its flesh and blood.
Of those, one platoon of the 563st regiment, which ended up with eight people, still unwilling to surrender, jumped off a 20-metre-high cliff, five were killed on the spot, and three were spared by falling on a tree, but were seriously injured. But even so, with their tenacity and their last breath, they crawled back…
There is a documentary, Iron Burning, dedicated to this. The daughter of Commander-in-Chief Fu Zhongbei said that after the Iron Paran war, his father had never returned to Sichuan, because most of the generals who had followed him out of the river had died, and he did not know how to face his father and his family back home…
On 10 June, the United Nations forces finally slowed down their offensive, with our troops holding up their work north of Tiehara.
The white flash zone is on both sides.
Thus, the fifth battle, which lasted 50 days, ended, and the enemy sides maintained their lines in Mount Wen, the Iron Plateau, the Golden Front and the Yang mouth.
The total number of casualties among our forces, which amounted to 85,000, compared to 102,000 in the four previous battles combined, was no more than 102,000, which was assessed by the magnitude of the casualties.
However, there were also 82,000 dead and wounded prisoners, a tie.
Since then, the United Nations force has had to reassess its strength, and it is fully aware of its strength.
In the following two years, neither side has launched any more large-scale offensives, and peace talks have become a natural option!
